HEALTH NEWS YOU CAN USE- Living Well

By: Dr. Robert Neposlan

Is better than a pound of cure!!!

If someone told you that they had a pill that could slow down aging and help improve and or even prevent some of the serious degenerative diseases we experience in our society today, would you be interested? At the end of this HEALTH NEWS YOU CAN USE article, I would like to share a product with you that will change your life. It contains the top 5 nutrients supported by research which have been shown to slow down aging and improve our outcomes when it comes to serious degenerative diseases and even cancer. The top 5 nutrients include:

Co-Q10 or Coenzyme Q10

This vitamin-like substance slows down the wear and tear on tissue and organs, strengthens and provides an essential molecule for the heart and supports the immune system. There have been numerous studies published to also show the benefits of supplementation in Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and general mental deterioration. The 400 trillion cells of your body NEED this nutrient to do anything. It is an energy molecule. If you are on cholesterol medication, anti-depressants, chemotherapy and or diabetic drugs then YOU NEED THIS NUTRIENT. These drugs deplete the body’s CoQ10 levels.

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)

This super anti-oxidant is sometimes referred to as the “universal anti-oxidant”. It is especially adept at protecting the brain and nerve tissues especially during times of heavy stress and during in intense injury such as a stroke or heart attack. As an example in 1996 researches from India demonstrated that animals treated with ALA suffered less brain injury and had 4 times greater survival rate after a stroke than non supplemented animals.

Resveratrol

This has been one of the most celebrated or popular anti-oxidants in recent years. This is the nutrient thought to be responsible for the “French Paradox”. This refers to the high saturated fat diets and incidence of smoking among the French people and yet they have very low incidence of heart disease. Researchers have suggested that the consumption of red wines (high concentration of Resveratrol) may be the reason. Resveratrol can also be found in peanuts, mulberries, blueberries and cranberries.

Studies have been show that Resveratrol benefits the heart by lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol in the blood. It has also been shown to lower abnormal cell proliferation in breast cancer, improve pancreatic cancer outcomes and lifespan.

Quercitin

Quercitin is a potent antioxidant found in apples, peppers, onions, berries and green tea. Like Resveratrol it has been well researched for its benefits against cancer and heart health. As an example, a 2004 study showed that Quercitin significantly inhibited the growth of moderately and highly aggressive prostrate cancer cells. It has also been shown to help reduce LDL (bad cholesterol) levels, improve hypertension and inflammation in disease processes like arthritis.

B Vitamins

We know a lot about B Vitamins. Virtually all multi vitamin formulas contain some combination of B’s. And for good reason. They play an essential role in aging, immune system and nervous system function. All cells rely on B vitamins for proper growth and division. As we age we have an increased need for additional B vitamins and this may be due to decreased digestion or absorption rates.

Unfortunately aging is not a choice. We all are on the same path. As I have suggested before we do however control our lifestyle choices and these five nutrients are a safe, evidence-backed option to support and protect the body in today’s environment. The good news is that all 5 of these nutrients are available in one source called Nutri-Prevent from a company called NAKA. I like this company’s products and have used them myself for years. The best part is, the product is available right here at our office. If you would like more information on these nutrients, just ask on your next visit!!

Until next week,

Live Well
